In locus 5 work with a trowel and baulk hammer was done to completly flatten the locus . Locus 5 remains completely sterile with no material whatsoever. Locus 5 is also being scraped down to determine where, if at all, there is a soil delineation between the sterile soil of locus 5 and the material rich soil that formerly was against it ( see AJC/ ARR I pg 247 ) In Locus 4 we are continuing to scrape down the northern area of the trench near the false baulk wall, defining rocks and the break between the brown material rich soil and the galestra in the north. It appears that in the north eastern corner of locus 4 , where locus 4 and locus 5 meet, there is a curve from the west to south and the area above the curve is void of both rocks and material.

Work in locus 5 exposed a yellow soil delineation at the southern edge of the locus , following a curve and appearing along approximately two thirds of the southern edge. At the thickest point the

Yellow soil displays a horizontal thickness of 33 centimeters, which tapers at the edges of the demarcation. Further work in locus 5 has included some stump definition.

Continued work on southern baulk of locus 4 , defining and removing roots. There is still material being recovered from within and under the roots. In locus 5 we removed a large stone from the middle of the locus . Having exposed the horizontal extent of the golden soil it was decided to close locus 5 and open locus 7 , which is only the golden soil to the south. Closing elevations, along with closing photos were taken. While cleaning near the southern baulk a bronze pin was uncovered (special find #1).
