The cut in E-F/68-70 was extended to a depth of ca. 90cm to 1 meter.  The soil in the cut was dark brown in color.  Beginning at a depth of ca. 90cm a dense layer of large rocks was encountered.  The rocks were then sewpt down to determine their extent and placement.

While cleaning a fragemtn of alteral sima from the Upper Building was found lying directly above two large rocks in meter E/68.  Cleaning revealed these rocks in meters E-F/68-70 to be randomly placed in the same fashion as those discovered yesterady at higher levels (35-40cm) in the excavation of meters G-H/68-70.  The rocks in both these areas form part of a single rock pack, which gradually increases in size and density down the slope of the hill.  Several of the rocks were removed

revealing large pieces of well preserved tile beneath them.  In addition, a heavy concentration of pottery, including fragments of orangewear, bucchero and impasto, as well as several pieces of bone, were again discovered in meter E/70.  One cassetta of tile and one box of pottery were found in the cut.

The trench was extended north into meters A/68-70 where a topsoil cut was made to a depth of 15cm.  The soil in the cut was dark brown in color and contained many small roots.  A few small pieces of worn tile were found in the cut.  A second cut was then made to a depth of ca. 25 cm.  Starting at a depth of ca. 20cm, the soil became light brown in color.  In

meter A/68, several small pieces of vitrified tile, a number of clay "waster" fragments and two fragments of misfired covertiles were found.  The soila round these pieces included concentrations of disintegrated plaster and carbon.  Samples of the vitrified tile, clay "waster" fragments and both pieces of the misfired covertiles were brought down to the magazzino.  One half cassetta of worn tile and plaster and one half box of coarse pottery were discovered in the second cut.
