Excavation begins with the start of a new pick pass moving east to west. For expediency, two people pick on either side, north and south, moving in. The middle two meters are handpicked due to the abundance of large stones. Soil is dark brown and compact like the earliest topsoil. Roots are clipped and trowels level the surface. The eastern half of the trench’s large rocks are revealed to be part of the natural bedrock outcropping as picking continues. The western half appears sterile. Very little to no material is recovered. Because of this, the trench is prepared for closing photos. The linear rock feature appears to be a natural fissure within the bedrock. The space between is excavated further to search for any material that has accumulated within the gap. Little is recovered and when bedrock is exposed within, excavation ceases. The trench is swept and cleaned.
