This morning excavation began in the same manner as yesterday. Work will continue on defining the Archaic wall and uncovering more of the terra cotta pipe structure.

Opening Elevations:

NW: 28.41 m. A.E.

NE: 28.35 m. A.E.

SE: 28.37 m. A.E.

SW: 28.36 m. A.E.

While defining the terra cotta pipe, two edges were found on both the west and east portions but seem to have been broken in antiquity as there are no fresh breaks. This helps answer the confusion in the middle area between these two side pieces. When seen from above, it is clear now that what remains is these two side fragments and the joining pieces, the upper convex portion is missing and thus the compacted soil that remains was the soil present directly underneath the upper pipe. While cleaning up loose dirt in this area, a tooth (Special Find #6) was found.

Work continued for the remainder of the late morning defining the rocks of the Archaic wall and further defining the area on either side of the terra cotta pipe for visibility and clarification. One half hour before excavation ended for the day (today is a half day) baulk walling was done and roots were clipped.
