Work began this morning around 7am. A 5cm cut was madee 50S 167E and 51S 167E. This cut was leveled and extended into meters 50S 166E and 51S 166E. The soil in these meters have remined consistant throughout the cuts. A method of wheelbarrow, shovel, and pick axe has been used today.

Another cut was made in meters 50S 165E and 51S 165E which brought the level of the trench down to 86 cm bd on average. The soil remained consistant throughout the day. The baulk walls were trimmed at the end of the day. A large amounts of terracotta has become evident in the baulk walls of meters 50S 165E and 51S 165E. This may represent the tile spread that appeared in the original T22 west ext trench. About 1/4 cassette terracotta was found and 1/2 latte box of pottery of pottery in Locus 3 today.
