A pick pass was made through the southern part of locus 4.
In locus 5, handpicks are being used to define the baulk wall. Dirt is being collected and sorted by hand. All material discovered will be collected under the context ‘baulk trim’.

While cleaning the baulk wall surrounding locus 5, a piece of slag was discovered along the southern

boundary of the trench. It was discovered near a large root. Coordinates were taken, however, due to it being discovered in the baulk, we did not take elevations.
The only terracotta/ pottery found in the baulk wall trim is along the southern boundary of the trench, however, it is still a small quantity.
The baulk walls of the sounding are being cleaned by means of a trowel and a handpick.
We cleaned the surface of loci 4 and 5 with a handpick and trowel.
