Began to take a sounding in E 149-50S58 to determine how far down the rock formation (locus 18) goes and also to determine the depth of sterile soil. THis sounding will be desegnated as locus 20. Opening depth were SE 14, SE 111, BW 12, NE 16 cm bd.
Soil was munselled at 2.5 Y 3/3 greyish brown. Soil has relatively little carbon and plaster. Terracotta and pottery is at a minimum also. Took 2nd cut at locus 20. Soil has become much denser and color has changed. A new locus, locus 21, was designated. It was munselled at 2.5 Y 4/4, olive brown. This stratigraphoc layer has no carbon and is virtually void of
material.
Closing depths for locus 20: SE 118, SW 118, NW 119, NE 120 cm bd.
Opening depths for locus 21: SE 118, SW 118, NW 119, NW 120 cm bd.
Took final cut of the day into locus 21. No material found.
