A.M.
The first pick pass into locus 7 confirmed again that the soil is consistent throughout the trench floor right now. There is one small pocket of carbon in the SE corner, which has a very high concentration of black material. This seems to be an exception, and cannot be fully looked at this year, as it is underneath a concentration of tile also in the SE corner.
The soil still has a fair amount of carbon and is riddled with bits of yellowish crushed plaster. THe natural part of the soil is dark brown when freshly brought up.
A good amount of special finds came up in these last pick passes.

The morning ended by cleaning the bottom portion of the baulk walls.

We now must concentrate on cleaning and closing the trench for the 2003 season. Baulk walls are being trimmed back and cleaned up and the trench floor is being flattened off.
