This morning the cut in L/M 88-89 was dropped to a depth of ca. 45 cm. A large amount of tile (2 cassette) and some plaster (.5 cassette) were found. The tile was mostly composed of large well preserved pieces. Only a small amount of pottery (.5 box) consisting chiefly of coarseware was found. Additionally, a great number of ivory and bronze fragments were also discovered. Included among the ivories were a number of finely worked and incised fragments. Moreover, a few of the ivory fragments were found together, but most were scattered finds, occuring randomly throughout the cut. The soil was brown in color and of a loose consistency. It contained a light concentration of plaster and some carbon. In meters N/O 88-89 the rock pack was cleaned down to a depth of ca. 60 cm. The pack was found to contain several alrge rocks and many pieces tile (1.5 cassette) The pottery consisted mostly of coarseware and impasto fragments. Also, the soil around the rock was gray-brown and contained some carbonized woood. In meters O/R 89-90 the cut was deepened to ca. 20 cm. bringing it just above the floor and in meter O-P 89-90 within 20 cm. of the floor. The soil here was tightly packed, containing many roots and small rocks. Some badly worn tile and plaster (.6 cassetta each) were found. No pottery was discovered.

This afternoon the cut in meters L-M 88-89 was extended to the southeast and dropped in meter L-M 89 to a depth of ca. 50 cm. A few well preserved pieces of tile (1 cassette) and plaster (.25 cassette) were found. In addition, a few scattered ivory and bronze fragments were discovered. The soil was a red brown, contained many roots and some flecks of carbonized wood and vitrified tile. One box of pottery, consisting nomstly of imapsto and grey ware fragments, was also found. All the pottery was in a highly deteriorated condition. In N-O 88-89 the rock pack was cleaned down to a depth of ca. 65 cm. Several large stones and many large pieces of worn tile were removed. A few small pieces of plater some heavily burned were also removed. The soil color varied from grey brown to light red. In addition, the soil contained many pieces of carbonized wood and pockets of loose plaster. At the bottom of the cut (ca. 65 cm.) a single heavily vitrified tile was found surrounded by burnt plaster. No pottery was found.
