Trench Layout
T 78 is a 3x3 meter trench located in the southwestern corner of the Piano del Tesoro. The western boundary of the trench was shot using a transit and is part of a baseline for the 2015 excavation area, running along the longitudinal line 106E on the master grid. The two eastern corners of the trench were triangulated. The coordinates of the trench are as follows:
\xb7 NW corner: 106E/40S
\xb7 NE corner: 109E/40S
\xb7 SE corner: 109E/43S
\xb7 SW corner: 106E/43S
A datum point with an absolute elevation of 27.69 meters on the master grid has been established on a tree to the south of the trench.
T-78 is located three meters to the southeast of T-77 and three meters to the north of T-66. In laying out trenches in 2015, we discovered an error of approximately 1 degree in the 2014 baselines, which manifested itself as a discrepancy of approximately 20cm across all 2014 trenches.
