Methodology

Mapping:

Plan- The absolute datum used to lay out the trench was an East-West grid line- 180E- sited previously by the architect.  Corners for T-50 were established by triangluation.  For points within the trench, East-West coordinates will be given.

Elevation- An absolute datum of 28.29 MSL was identified previously and marked by a nail on a tree outside the SW corner of the trench. Another nail was placed below that nail marking the datum at 28.00 MSL. A line will be extended from this nail and elevations for points within the trench will be measured down from this line.

Materials:

Ceramic:

Terracotta- collected in bowls with an approximate cubic volume of 2959.21 cm and then discarded.

Pottery- collected in rectangular containers and retained.

Bone- collected and retained.

Metal- collected and retained as special find.

Glass- collected and retained as special find.
