This afternoon work continued in L 86-87, where the cut was dropped to a depth of ca. 40 cm.  A large amount of tile and some plaster were found.  The tile included both large, well preserved fragments and many worn, smaller pieces.  Additionally, a great deal of highly deteriorated pottery (3.5 cassette) of all fabrics was found.  Included among the pottery were several well-preserved pieces of pithos.  The cut also yielded a full box of bone fragments - some quite large.  The soil was grey-brown in color and of a loose consistency.  It contained roots, a large amount of rocks, heavy concentrations of plaster and flecks of carbonized wood.  Work also continued in QS 88-90 where the loose blanket of blackened soil surrounding the column base was cleaned down to the adjacent floor levels.  Some poorly preservd floor was uncovered to the southeast of the column base, but toward both the east and south no floor was discovered - it probably having fully eroded.  In addition, a few pieces of pottery, all badly worn, were found in teh blackened layer above the floor.
