An area was cleared northwest of CA87 using clippers, saws, machetes, and rakes to remove leaves, trees, and roots. Small rocks on the surface were removed and discarded in a pile 5 meters northwest of the trench.
A 3x4m trench was laid out using triangulation off the northwestern corner of CA87.
