Architectural or Soil Locus? Soil
Is Contiguous with Locus 18 in the balk.
Phase
Description Locus 10 is a sediment layer that accumulated during the winter rains. The wash is clearly banded with two colors of soil: 5 YR 4/4 (Munsell Reddish Brown), and 10 YR 5/4 (Yellowish Brown). Locus 10 is much finer and sandier than Locus 6, but we did not see this change until Locus 10 had been partially excavated. Therefore, it is important to note that some artifacts catalogued as Locus 6 may belong to Locus 10. The two loci share similar pottery and stone artifacts, but Locus 10 also has small, scattered concentrations of ash, charcoal, and bone. Small campfires were made several times in the ruins of the room.
