Descriptive Attribute Value(s)
Site number Jn-0483
Project name Muscatatauck Urban Training Center (MUTC)
Surface exploration methods The soil observed at the site consisted of Genesee loam/Corydon silt loam. While this soil type is frequently flooded, the positive shovel probes revealed a well developed subsoil at a debth of 15 to 20 cm (6-8 in.) bs. The placement of the site up slope from the river makes the area not as susceptible to significant accumulation of alluvial deposits. 7 lithic flakes were recovered from 2 shovel probes; 6 were made of Laurel chert and 1 was of Jeffersonville chert. No diagnostic artifacts were recovered, prohibiting the determination of a cultural affiliation.
