General remarks | This is a pit located in the SW corner of the trench. In the beginning, it was thought that it was a stone wall due to cobbles almost regularly filling the pit as layer by layer. number of sherds also filled this pit and they looked as if they were smashed or broken from the pressure from above. Thus, some sherds may be assembled as medium size pots of vessels. A piece of sherd was painted Ubaid that may be accidental in this context and the pit may be dated to II. Millennium. The study of the sherds has not been made yet. |

Has note | Contexts excavated in trenches were recorded using the "locus system." A locus is any discrete three-dimensional entity excavated in a trench. The key to the locus system is the recognition that a locus is any one thing. Differences in soil composition or texture are therefore as important as, for example, the difference between a pit and a wall. If two entities were distinct, they were considered separate loci and were therefore assigned separate locus numbers. It should also be noted that every context excavated in a trench was given a locus number and thus the trench itself is made up completely of excavated loci. |
