Project name Muscatatuck Urban Training Center (MUTC)
Surface exploration methods The soil observed consists of Genesee loam and is susceptible to frequent flooding. Topsoil depth extended to 20 cm (8 in.) bs at the site. The artifact assemblage consisted of 14 pieces of debitage recovered from the ground surface and a single shovel probe. The limited assemblage contains debitage that represents the full range of lithic reduction. Raw materials identified included all locally available materials (Laurel and Jeffersonville Cherts, and Chalcedony). This ephemeral lithic scatter produced no diagnostic artifacts, prohibiting the determination of a cultural affiliation.
