Trench T90
Size max. pres. length 0.0410m; max. pres. width 0.03799m; max. pres. height 0.0178m
Condition Broken on one side and along the circumference of the base. Modern tool scratches along some parts of the broken side. Chipped along most of the circumference of the foot, with two preserved finished edges. Finished on the face of the foot and the interior, which has a potter's mark (chi). Finishing preserved along the circumference above the foot, in the indent between the foot and the base, except on the broken side. Worn, abraided, and encrusted.
Description An impasto footed base fragment with a siglum at the center of the interior, probably the letter chi. It is made of two lines crossed diagonally, one incised through the other and thus appearing on top. The length of the top incision is 0.0180m and the length of the bottom incision is 0.0155 (0.0067m on one side of the top incision and 0.0061m on the other). The incisions are both 0.0018m in width. The base is finished on the inside but broken along the circumference, with only one area measuring 0.0188m in length beginning to extend into the body of the vessel. The fragment narrows between the preserved circumference of the base and the preserved circumference of the foot. This concave area preserves a smooth, finished edge all around except where the edge of the base and foot are broken. The foot is 0.0437m in diameter and chipped in all but two areas, the longer of which is 0.0108m in length and the shorter 0.0074m. The foot is finished on the outside and slightly convex.
