Condition Fragments are worn, abraded, pitted, and encrusted. All break edges are ancient. Fragment A consolidated from five pieces. Three fragments associated, but do not join.
Description Three fragments of a braided fine impasto handle. Fragment A has two finished, convex faces, one decorated and the other undecorated, and is broken transversely through the diameter of the handle in two places, one relatively perpendicular to the diameter but the other on a diagonal. It is almost round in section towards the perpendicular break edge, but tapers to a more elliptical shape in section at the opposite, diagonal break edge. The decorated face has three diagonal, convex bands, projecting at about a forty-five degree angle in relation to the diameter of the handle, created from intertwining two coils of clay to create a braid pattern. The width of each coil is approximately 0.00987m. Fragment B is a fragment of one of the coils used to create the braid pattern. It has two finished faces, one convex and one concave. In section it is roughly elliptical, but it twists in profile, indicating it would have twined around a second now separated coil. Fragment C, likely a fragment of one of the intertwined coils, has one finished, twisting face, but is broken on all other sides. These three fragments are associated but not able to be joined.
