Trench | CA89 |
Description |
Locus 2 is a dry clay-like soil. It has a slightly more yellowish hue to the soil. There are fewer organic inclusions. There are fewer rocks in locus 2, however there is a stronger concentration of rocks in the northeastern corner versus the northwestern corner, ranging about 2-5cm in size. Since the soil was the same throughout the trench, the confines of Locus 2 after a single pick pass was redefined upon recommendation by the site director to a 2X2 sounding in which more stones were visible on the surface. However, a single piece of slag and a few pieces of terracotta / pottery was discovered before this partitioning occurred. Outside of July 19th, 2017, all references to Locus 2 refer to the sounding. |
