| Surface exploration methods | Site was both pedestrian surveyed and shovel test probed at 5 m intervals. Topography was found to range from nearly level to moderately sloping. Land use within and surrounding the site was found to be a wooded area. The reconnaissance determined the soils to be both severely eroded and disturbed by reported past quarrying of the area. The soil profile lacked a topsoil layer and in many areas throughout the site the subsoil was exposed at the ground surface. |
