Description Locus 1 is a dark brown humus layer with organic material loosely packed and including leaves, grass, and roots. A large stone, possibly a fragment of bedrock, is located in the northeastern corner and extends into adjacent CA 73. Seven large stumps twenty to seventy centimeters in diameter appear across the trench. Worn fragments of terra cotta, pottery, bone, and vitrified terra cotta recovered in small concentrations. One fragment of Medieval pottery found. The locus was relatively shallow--between five and twelve centimeters deep.
