It became clear today that there is a room in the N half of the trench. Locus number of the room is L.7. The E wall was appearing yesterday, and after scraping and cleaning, this wall became certain with at least a one brick row. There might have been additional row of bricks but the immediate E of this wall is severely damaged due to its close proximity to the surface. In addition, this E part of the trench coincides with the wheelbarrow path that was being used for removing the dirt from trench D.8, which adds to the damage made on this wall. The locus of this wall is L.9. The plaster line on the W face of L.9 indicates the beginning of the interior space of the room in the E.

We removed that mud-brick pile until the level of 587.56 m. and now it looks that this pile was used for filling a pit that seems to have been made into the large part of the room L.7. We also began removing the wall L.3 in the NW corner of the trench in order to find its bottom and expose its construction. The most of the cobbles seem to have been disturbed over time and moved from their original place, but they still seem to give the E-W alignment. Unusually, there were large size pot-sherds laid on top of each other that may have been used for filling and leveling the courses of the wall. One of those sherds was painted Ubaid that dates the wall to Ubaid but since it is the only one, the wall may have been built much later time than the Ubaid and the painted sherd may have been purely accidental. Because of the pot sherds and their significant amount recovered from this feature, calling it as a wall becomes suspicious and it may also be a pit. The problem in figuring out the what this feature would be is the size of exposure of this feature L.3. It is only exposed less than 1m2 area and the rest of it goes into section.

During the removal of cobbles in L.3, we may have found one or two partially preserved mud-bricks in N-S direction that may be the W wall for room L.7. Tomorrow, we will continue removing the cobbles in L.3 and the bricks from the brick pile. This should help to identify L.3, meaning of brick pile and the possible W wall of the room L.7. Tomorrow, we will move on south of the trench and begin excavations with locus 8 to make unevenness made by the pits L.4, L.5, and L.6 as even as possible.
