12 July 2022 AM: The morning began with a pick pass in the northern half of Locus 1. The soil was sorted by hand into buckets. It continues to be very sunbaked clay, medium brown in color and very dense. There were frequent inclusions of tile, plaster, and pottery. There were also inclusions of bone and vitrified terra cotta. Upon cleaning of the pick pass stone outcropping was uncovered in the NE corner of Locus 1. It was brushed and the area around it was leveled and scraped with hand picks and trowels. Carbon inclusions were also present with other evidence of burning, like burnt bone. The soil was dense, medium brown clay that began to be less dry and sunbaked. Inclusions of tile, pottery, and plaster were still frequent with some bone, vitrified terra cotta and small limestone fragments.
