18 July 2022 AM: The morning began with a pick pass in Locus 5. The deposit continued to consist of degraded stone with no other inclusions. The area was picked several more times and the deposit was hand-sorted into buckets. After the fourth pick pass a dark clay soil deposit was uncovered in the southeast corner of Locus 5, thus far inclusion free. The area was defined and the eastern baulk of Locus 5 was straightened with hand picks. Locus 6 was scraped and lowered with hand picks and trowels. The soil continued to be dark brown and very dense clay. There were few inclusions which consisted of mostly bone and a little pottery. The deposit of Locus 5 continued to be degraded stone without inclusions. Locus 6 was also troweled and hand-picked. There were frequent inclusions of bone and some inclusions of pottery (impasto), some badly degraded. A few small fragments of limestone and chert were present as well as very frequent carbon.
