Elevations recorded. The depth of the trench floor was between 47.5 to 58 cm below datum.
A cut was begun in meters E186/S49-50, and after excavating approximately 5 cm of soil, a heavy concentration of terracotta tile was encountered. This level of tiles was designated locus 4n, due to high number of terracottas in the area.
Baulks trimmer. 65 terracotta fragments recovered. In meters E186/S49-50, the tile appears to be resting on an equal horizontal level with the floor of the trench.
A complete account of recovered material will be recorded in the P.M. entry.
P.M.
Continued to define area around terracotta tiles (E186/S49-50). Extended cut to meters E187/S49-50 in order to determine if the terracotta concentration persisted at the same level throughout the trench.
In today's work, 65 terracotta tile frag., 11 pieces of ceramic (coarseware & impasto), and 9 fragments of bone were recovered from locus 3n. 329 terracotta tile fragments, 27 pieces of ceramic (coarseware & impasto), and 3 fragments of bone were uncovered in locus 4n.
