Weekly Trench Summary
Area H, Trench 2
2005 Season
Week 1
M. Baldi
A new trench in area H was started and a lot of dirt (mostly fill) was removed throughout the week. Despite these efforts context markers were almost foreign and only a good surface floor was located that may indicate a sealed area. This locus (# 10) and the area of Locus 11 displayed good markers of floors, white pebbly stuff and pottery on the surface with associated oven brick. Other than this the trench was taken almost down to the two meter in depth but will most likely be postponed for another season.

Has note | The purpose of the daily journal was to record the activities taking place in a trench each day. This included which loci were excavated, how and why loci were excavated and the ongoing impressions of the relationships among loci. It should be noted that journals record the actions, impressions and ideas of trench supervisors during the excavations. They are not, therefore, the final interpretations or syntheses of the emerging data. |
