We are starting by creating L1060 to peel back the top layer of the trench center. The soil was exposed during the off-season and the workmen already mentioned that it was different.
We cleared all the way to the East baulk. There is not a significant continuation of the pile of stuff. There was a bit of ash coming up like last year's L1050, L1051 right East of the pile of stuff.

| Has note | The purpose of the daily journal was to record the activities taking place in a trench each day. This included which loci were excavated, how and why loci were excavated and the ongoing impressions of the relationships among loci. It should be noted that journals record the actions, impressions and ideas of trench supervisors during the excavations. They are not, therefore, the final interpretations or syntheses of the emerging data. |
