We are continuing to use baulk hammers across the entire trench so that we can avoid the possibility of damaging layers of the stratigraphy. A section of tile has been unearthed in the eastern most section of the trench.
We are troweling around tiles so that we can further define them and understand their extent. It now appears that there might be a distinction between the eastern most meter and the rest of the trench because the tile spread seems limited to that area. In the west it seems that we are digging in a tough more sterile soil. THis seems to reflect a similar occurance in VT-2. Commenced a pick pass across the western 2 meters of the trench to determine if the soil does in fact have anything in it. The pick pass revealed that the area of the trench while not sterile has very little material in it. Beginning to trim baulks in order to get a better understanding of the interaction
between the area with the tile and the area of soil with little material.

Continuing to trim baulks in hopes that the relationship between the soils will be revealed.
