A.M.

Elevations of trench were recorded. Depths now range from 19-26 cm below datum. Using a Munsell soil chart, the earth of locus 2n was determined to be 10YR 4/2 (Dark grayish brown)

A cut was started, moving westward, approx. 5-10 in depth, and continued through meters E186-187/S49-50. The soil in this area is consistent with that of the locus 2n designation. The soil was thickly matted with roots and numerous pieces of terracotta tile were recovered. Also found were some fragments of bone and ceramic pieces which mainly consisted of impasto and coarseware types.

A full account of all recovered material will be recorded in the P.M. section.

P.M.

This morning's cut was continued through E188/S49-50. This soil also remained consistent with that of locus 2n. A second cut was started in E 186/S50, this soil also remained consistent (in color and texture) with that of locus 2n. Trimmed Baulks.

In today's work a full cassetta, measuring in volume approximately 50cm long, by 30cm wide, by 8cm deep. Also recovered were 52 fragments of ceramic, mostly coarseware and some impasto, 10 pieces of bone, and one shell.
