A.M.

Clearing and leveling with mestaline and brushes continued in meters N3-4/E48 to a depth of ca 30-35 cm.  No additional rocks were uncovered during clearing.  The soil in these meters remained light broen in color with many small roots.  Only one small piece of worn impasto was discovered in the light brown soil.

Clearing also continued in meter N1/E47 to a depth of ca 25 cm.  Two large rocks prevented the excavation of part of the eastern and northern portions of the meter.  A concentration of small and medium size rocks were uncovered in the cleared area.  In addition, these rocks appear to extend westward into the western baulk of the trench.  The

soil around the rocks was light brown in color with many small roots.  Two pieces of burned impasto pottery were discovered in the light brown soil.

The western baulk of the trench along meters N2-4/E47 was cleaned in order to obtain a clearer definition of its porfile.  A section was then drawn of these meters.

P.M.

The area was cleared and the trench was extended two meters to the west into N1-2/E45-46.  A 10 cm topsoil cut was then taken in meters N5-6/E45-46.  The soil was grey to olive brwon in color with many small roots.  Only five small pieces of worn tile were discovered in the cut.
