AM: T100 was opened in the morning. Opening photos were taken of the trench and of Locus 1, which recorded a 2m x 4.10m rectangle of the trench stretching north 4.10m from its southern baulk. Opening elevations were taken of T100: NW: 26.62m AE NE: 26.65m AE SE: 26.80m AE SW: 26.90m AE Opening elevations were taken of Locus 1: NW: 26.85m AE NE: 26.78m AE SE: 26.80m AE SW: 26.90m AE The Munsell designation of the soil in Locus 1was determined to be 10YR 5/3 brown. Locus 1 coordinates: NW: 174E/59.90S NE: 176E/59.90S SE: 176E/64S SW: 174E/64S The soil of Locus 1 was loosened with a pick pass in its southern extent along the south baulk stretching north about one meter. The soil was hand sorted into buckets. The soil was medium brown clay which was very clumpy because it had been sunbaked. The clumps were broken up with hand picks and trowels. Inclusions of plaster were extremely prevalent, especially in the SE corner. There were also some inclusions of tile, pottery, and bone. Inclusions of carbon were also present, and a sample was kept. Some of the tile and pottery fragments also showed signs of burning. Soil from Locus 1 was wrapped in a plastic tarp and kept for flotation at a later time. Several inclusions uncovered during the cleaning of this pick pass were recorded as Special Finds. SF 1: plaster with reed impressions Elevation: 26.84m AE Coordinates: 174.48E/63.46S SF 2: shell bead Elevation: 26.86m AE Coordinates: 174.38E/63.46S SF 3: tooth Elevation: 26.81m AE Coordinates: 175.17E/63.56S The next 1m of soil across the trench north of the previous pick pass was loosened with another pick pass. Soil and inclusions were consistent with the previous pick pass. Several burnt bone fragments were recorded as Special Finds. SF 4: burnt bone in 2 fragments Elevation: 26.80m AE Coordinates: 175.54E/62.70S SF 5: burnt bone Elevation: 26.82m AE Coordinates: 175.17E/63.80S PM: The afternoon began with a pick pass in the middle of Locus 1.
