INTRODUCTION
Having extended the master grid system to area Tesoro 26 this season, it was decided to excavate meters E186-188/S53-54, along with meters E186-188/S49-50 (see JBB I), for three principal reasons. Firstly, to create a stratigraphic section connecting the workshop building with the southeast corner of hte ARchaci building, and paralleling similar sections in Tesoro 22 and Tesoro 25/Tesoro 21. Secondly, to further investigate the enigmatic lines of tile, previously uncovered in the 1992 excavation of Tesoro 26 (see TT II and TT III), which revealed a plethora of material. LAstly, to link material found in the area of the workshop building with material found in the area of hte Archaic building as well as with the orientalizing structures beneath the latter building.
NOTE
Phoebe Segal began this book and excavated the south trench of T26. She left and Michele Kunitz took over excavation and recording on July 15. On July 17, Michele Kunitz also took over excavation and recording for the north trench of T26. The beginning of north trench is found in JBB I.
