Surface exploration methods	As noted above, the site remains were found during stripping of overburden. Remains consisted of 46 features incl. 21 wood-lined privies (F: 2, 3, 5, 9, 10, 12, 14, 15, 18, 19, 20, 24, 26, 27, 28, 29, 31, 32, 34, 46), 7 brick-lined privies (F: 4, 11, 16, 21, 22, 25, 44), 5 cisterns (F: 1, 33, 36, 38, 41), a stove chimney (F: 40), 5 foundations (F: 7, 37, 39, 42, 43), a large post mold (F: 45), and 6 unk. feature types (F: 6, 8, 13, 17, 23, 35). Numerous post molds (PM 1-47) discovered during PII investig. (PM 4 discarded). 11 were excavated (3, 10, 12, 13, 38, 39, 40, 41, 45, 46, 47). These features and postmolds were sampled through excavation during Phase II investigations.
