Description Main trench: Locus 3 of the main trench was opened June 22, 2004 and was originally closed completely when the entire main trench was in Locus 4 on June 30, 2004 (see SDB/KGM I, pages 55 and 63). Locus 3 was reopened on July 2, 2004 when Locus 3, Extension, was opened. Locus 3 in the main trench consisted of a light-brown soil, which was galestra-like in color and substance. Within the locus was a small tile spread, in the south-east corner, and flecks of carbon throughout the trench. Additionally, larger pottery sherds were discovered (SDB/KGM I, page 29). Extension: Locus 3 of the extension was opened on July 2, 2004 (see SDB/KGM I, page 71). The soil was similar to that in the main trench; however, there was no substantial amount of large tile fragments (SDB/KGM I, page 71).
