Description After excavating locus 8 approximately 10-15 centimeters into the earth, a new soil had been reached. This soil was a dark brown, dark orange, and yellow soil, that was more clay like and compacted than the previous soil. Locus 11 was opened 1 meter north of Locus 8 to detect if the soil change continued in a horizontal direction. It was found that the soil was continuous through locus 11. Also similar to Locus 8 were the large pieces of architectural terracotta lying flat on the surface of the soil. Locus 11 was closed when the rest of the trench was closed for the season.
