Description Locus 6 was situated in the western half of the trench and was comprised of a tile spread which overlay Loci 7 and 9. The tiles of Locus 6 were fairly large, many preserving large segments of tiles. Some of these tiles were catalogued, as they provided good representative examples of the types of tiles employed in the ancient roofing system. Despite the presence of tiles, very few ceramics were recovered from this locus: only 112 sherds in total were recovered from Locus 6. Additionly, 23 pieces of bone, 1 piece of iron and 1 piece of iron slag were recovered from this locus. The soil in which the material rested was similar to the soil of Locus 5, for it was also a dark olive-brown, clay-like, and heavily mottled soil, containing specks of terracotta, carbon, and rocks.

Editorial Note

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
