Surface exploration methods Field walked at 2-3m intervals when unplanted and covered with only a small amount of vegetation. Grassy area around house probed for stone near surface. A very large amount of early 19th and early 20th c. domestic debris on surface, this was collected intensively, then sampled after representative samples were obtained. Interior of foundation was unsafe to enter and was filled with a large amount of recent refuse.
