| Description | Locus 1 is a dark brown humus layer with organic material including leaves, grass, and roots. Many small rocks 4-8cm in size are included in the soil matrix. Three small stumps appear in the northwest corner area. There was little material in this layer. Terra cotta, pottery, and bone were found in small concentrations. What artifacts were found were fairly worn. The soil pack was loose and the locus was relatively shallow--between 1 and 9cm deep. |
