|Description||Flot. Smpl #1, >4mm, 100%, fully recorded A small spit from a possible midden. This is a medium-small sized unit of medium brown bone with less then 5% burning. There is almost no digestion, gnawing or trampling. The material is moderately fragmented - more than the building fill - it has fewer large pieces and a greater percentage of 1- 2 cm fragments. Measured in terms of volume over half of the unit is identifiable. The taxa represented are sheep/goat with a few abraded and burnt cattle bones. There are no fish, birds or microfauna. Two of the sheep phalanges may be articulated. Foot bones are the most common elements, but there are also forelimb long bones, scapula, and some cranial elements. Ribs are well represented considering the small size of the sample but verts are very rare. The pelvis is absent and the femur and tibia are only present as one small fragment each, but there are hind foot bones. The material is more mixed in origin than the building fill, but is not heavily worked and is not redeposited. It seems largely post-butchery but it is small parts of different events. The flot sample is medium to dark brown fragments with slightly more than 5% burning. There is a little digestion. The material is sharp edged although highly fragmented, and a bit mixed in surface texture. The diagnostics are all sheep-goat feet and teeth. Overall the material is like dense fill/midden. It has not been extensively reworked or redeposited but is probably from a greater variety of sources than the building fill. Last Number = F.83|
