Description | Main trench: Locus 4 consisted of yellowish-brown, sandy soil that broke easily into small particles. The locus contained less pottery and terracotta than Loci 3, 5, and 6. Locus 4 extended down further in the following coordinates than in the remainder of the trench: (144.77 E / 58.50 S), (145.90 E / 58.56 S), (145.90 E / 59.42 S), (145.77 E / 59.42 S), and (144.86 E / 58.50 S). However, elevations were not taken at every one of these points due to their proximity. Instead, the closing elevations for this area of Locus 4 will be designated by the estimated northern/most and southern/most points measured. This deeper area contained even less material than the rest of Locus 4. Extension: Locus 4 did not appear in the extension area. Therefore, the matrix for the extension does not include this locus. |
