Pick pass done in the eastern meter strip to level the trench down to the concentration of rock. Simultaneously, the rock concentration (and possible feature) defined. All soil encountered is Locus 2 soil. Soil sorted and cleaned from the trench. In defining the rocks found a coil made pottery sherd slightly under the edge of one of the rocks. Can see a second possibly associated fragment deeper beneath a nearby rock.

Still finding a fair amount of material over the area of the trench as well as in the soil surrounding the rock packing. In the eastern meter coming down on flat sheeting of bedrock over nearly the whole
area. Directly on top of the bedrock recovered associated pieces of coil made pottery.

Began leveling the trench between the rock feature and the south wall. Soil consistent with Locus 2 , sorted and cleaned from trench. In cleaning discovered coil made base fragments (modern breaks).

Found piece of slag while defining the rock feature. Slag will be collected as bulk finds in a latte box. Trench cleaned and leveled. Photographs taken. Drawing made also.
Began removing rocks and trowling out rock feature to the level of the trench (primarily bedrock). Soil remained consistent with Locus 2 , dirt sorted and cleaned from trench. In cleaning found a rocchetto fragment.

Continued troweling around rock feature in western section of trench. Rocks removed and dirt ( Locus 2 ) sorted. While sorting, found a piece of butchered bone.

Pick pass done in the western section of trench to level dirt to bedrock (approximately
4-5 centimeters). Dirt is brown and clay-like with roots and broken off bedrock. Dirt cleaned and sorted. Kept working to expose bedrock. The western ¼ meter remains to be cleared.
Special find made in cleaning—worked chert.
