AM

Work began today by picking the western half of the trench and sorting soil. The rock feature noted yesterday appears to extend across the entire trench. A large amount of terracotta is intermixed with the rocks. The terracotta is mostly large pan tiles and cover tiles. The rocks range from approximately 5-7 centimeters large to about 15-20 centimeters large. In order to explore the stone and terracotta feature the trench will be troweled down. One and a half bowls of terracotta has already been unearthed. The pieces of terracotta are significantly larger and show less abrasion than the pieces of terracotta that precede it. Also, the feature appears to make an arc from the north western meter towards the south eastern wall of the trench.

The arc feature is approximately 70-90 centimeters in width at various points. To fully explore the extent of this feature, the wrench will be extended 1 meter on the southern wall and 2 meters on the eastern wall. These loci will be opened tomorrow,

While hand picking an especially high mound of dirt in the western portion of the trench, a possible forno fragment was unearthed.

Work today was completed by defining the rock feature and drawing reench lines for both extensions. The extension from the southern wall has the following coordinates:

8 west to 11 west / 31 south to 32 south

The extension from the western wall has the following coordinates:

11 west to 13 west / 29 south to 31 south

These trenches will be opened tomorrow after clearing, taking photos, and coordinates.
