This morning excavation restarted in Locus 1, moving East to West across the trench. We are still finding moderate quantities of tile (ancient and modern), in addition to pottery fragments. Some modern materials are also present. We still appear to be in plough-zone levels.

Locus 1

Work continued in Locus 1 picking and shovelling. We concentrated in the western half of the trench to try and obtain the extent of the locus’ depth.

Materials are becoming fewer as we get deeper. We appear to be through the upper plough-zone; however, soil with small river stones remain consistently present.

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
