A pieces of bronze and larger piece of oxidized iron (#1) were found. The soil continues to be dry grey with occasional pieces/flecks of carbon.
Also continued the ut through the rock pack in meter L(M)/67-68 . The first cut was completed at the depth ~73 cs bd. Apprx 2/3 cassette of tile frags and 1/3 latte box of pottery were recovered. A 2nd cut to ? cm bd was also complete. This cut contained ~1/3 latte box of pottery and 1/3 cassette of tile frags. The soil in both of these cuts is the grey-yellow soil which has been observed in the profiles below the decomposing limestone level. A 10-15 cm topsoil cut was taken in K-L-M/65 to a depth of 39 cm bd. 1/2 a cassetta of tile and 1/2 box of coarseware pottery was recovered. The tile and pottery was all irregularly broken and worn. In meteres L-M/67-68 the cut taken at 88 cm bd was finished to depth of 95 cm bd. About 1/3 cassette of worn and burbed tile and plaster was recovered. Plaster matrix continued in this area. The amount of tile and plaster diminished as the cut cmes further into meter L. Several small pieces of bronze and one piece of slage with clearly identifiable bronze was recovered from the wheelbarrow. The stump was removed from the southeast corner of the M/68. A 2nd cut was started in M/67 the soil is the same plaster matrix but with mre concentration of plaster & burn, but the cut is very small. The soil is darker. L-M was mestied for about 2 hours. The soil is an intensely packed black matrix and it is very difficult to remove. About 20 pieces od pottery, all very small, and some bone was recovered.
A 2nd cut in L-M/65 was started, the soil is a mix of roots and rocks similar to the topsoil. No finds were recorded, but several pieces of burned bronze or metal from L-M/67-68 were
bagged and brought down. A soil sample from L/69 was also brought down.
