STRATEGY: 1. To see if wall f241 and f243 have a similar join to those found in previous days. 2. To take lot 886 down further to remove soil from around the tholos stones to try and expose them fully.
SUMMARY: Strategy (1) went according to plan with an edge seeming to exist on f241, thereby confirming the square structure around room f231 was earlier than the adjoining walls. This was made up of pise with not so much pottery. 2. Lot 886 was taken down further, but with no real result thus far. Both these operations were delayed by needing to put on a temporary base line for drawing in the absence of the EDM. Also the north baulk had to be taken back further as it was discovered to be backfill. Hopefully tomorrow we will be able to plan the SW corner of the trench.
