We began this morning with bipd photographs of the tile fall and rock feature. After the photos were taken, we continued work in locus 7 in an attempt to define moer of the tile fall of locus 6. Only fragmentary tile fragments have appeared and fewer tiles are present as we move south. Given the size of the terracotta fragments, many were lifted as we worked. The tile fall may have continued in locus 7, but in a more fragmentary form. As we worked in locus 7, we began to come across a new soil type. It was not defined yet but we will continue to remove locus 7 across the extension before it is defined as locus 9.

We continued to remove locus 7 and came down on the new soil. This new soil is heavy with plaster and carbon. We are finding a great deal of material as we come down onto the new soil. The plaster most likely is associated with the tile fall of locus 6. We continue to find a large amount of burned bone as well. We will continue to remove the remainder of locus 7 in the morning and define

the new soil as locus 9. It is interesting to note that a ring base was found today on top of the rock feature just below the surface of the soil. This base most likely dates to the Archaic period.
