Cut 3 was completed in L/52-54, yielding only scattered pottery fragments.  As this will be the final week of excavation for the season, it was decided to complete cuts 2-4 in meters C-F before proceeding further south.

Cut 3 in E-F/53-54 (meter 52 is being left in place for the present  as a wheel barrow ramp) yielded a mixture of pottery fragments, tile and small lumps of bronze, consistent with the same level in G-L.  The function of several large stones at the base of the cut in E-53 is not yet apparent.  Cut 2 in D/53-54 also shows large stones at the base, while the soil contains little pottery and only a few tiles.
