Tile III
Pottery III
The 1m cut continued through FF and GG-9-10-11. There continues to be a burn layer of carbonized material at 1m and the soil remains yellow-grey with tile sparsely scattered throughout. BIts of pithos and large course-ware vessels continue to be found. The pithos fragments found in FF-9 on July 18 afternoon was pantile.
The tile layer at 60-80cm in GG, HH, II-9,10,11 was drawn and photographed.
It should be noted that in the 80cm-1m cut that:
1) The bronze slag found in this cut is much more decomposed and corroded than bronze found in other cuts, almost to the point of looking just like the "contact" corrosion product.
2) Wood (carbonized) has been found immediately beneath tile fragments as if the wood and tile have been pressed together.

Tile 5
Pottery 1
The task of lifting the tile in meters HH,II-9,10,11 was begun with mestaline. A number (~6) of large pantile fragments (~25cm length) were found but a whole length or width of a pantile was not able to be reconstructed. There was plaster at the surface of the tile layer but little was uncovered as the tile was lifted. There was a heavy burn layer (carbonized material) in HH-10 beneath the tile at ~75cm. The tile remained thick as the 80cm level was approached.
