July 3, 1998

Continued leveling in E138-139/S23-24, exposing the darker brown soil that underlays the yellowish brown (Locus 31) soil.  The yellowish-brown soil is still present in patches in E138-139/S23.

Two flat stones were partially defined, laying on top of a larger flat stone, which rests on the orientalizing floor level (see AMC V p. 200 for stone on floor).  The darker brown soil and pink plaster partially overlay these stones.

This work, removing Locus 31 soil, produced 1/2 of a latte box of pottery and bone fragments and 18-20 fragments of terracotta and tile.

The baulks were also trimmed, producing 12-15 small bits of terracotta and 2/3 of a latte box of pottery.

Editorial Note

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
